In a devastating turn of events, torrential rains and widespread flooding across Punjab have claimed the lives of at least 118 people, according to Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed A. The calamity has impacted over 4.7 million residents, displacing families and overwhelming local infrastructure.
Relief Measures in Motion
To address the crisis, the Punjab government has mobilized an extensive emergency response:
- 330+ relief camps established for displaced families
- 420+ medical camps providing urgent care
- 360+ veterinary camps supporting livestock and rural livelihoods
Commissioner Javed emphasized the scale of the disaster and the government’s commitment to providing immediate aid and long-term rehabilitation.
